School Age Policies

School Age Policies

Enrollment Policy:
Enrollment is open to all children, provided the center can meet the needs of that child.

Enrollment in the center is granted without discrimination in regard to sex, race, color, ancestry, creed, or political belief.

If withdrawal from the center is necessary, tuition charges will cease two weeks after receipt of written notice of withdrawal.

If enrollment is full, children may be placed on a waiting list. The waiting list operates on a first come, first served basis, with preference given to siblings of children already enrolled.

When a child has been accepted to the center, the following must be turned in to the Academy Office prior to the first day of care:
A non-refundable registration fee
A registration form
A payment agreement form stating your weekly rate
A parent handbook agreement form
An emergency contact form
A current physical
A civil rights form
COVID vaccination record is requested

Discipline Policy:
Our staff will treat all children equally, and will never use physical or verbally abusive behavior to correct a discipline problem.
If a child misbehaves in a disruptive or inappropriate way while at the center, the parents will receive an incident report describing the child's behavior. Parents are asked to sign this document for our records. Parents will also be provided with a copy.

Children can be dismissed from the center for the following offenses:

Continued aggressive behavior toward authority
Repeated abusive language directed toward others
Physical danger to self or other children
In cases of offenses listed above, the parent/guardian will receive a written notice from the director. The following options are available to the director: 3-5 day suspension, immediate dismissal with a refund for unused days, or dismissal with two weeks notice.

Attendance
Please call AGNA if your child will not be attending on any given day. If your child is registered as absent at school on a regularly scheduled day for any reason, they may not attend AGNA on that day.

Injury & Sick Policy / Medications:
A child must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to care. If a child is on a prescription medication for a contagious condition, the child must be on antibiotics for 24 hours or have three doses of medication before returning.

A signed medication form MUST be filled out by a parent for a caregiver to administer medication. This includes Tylenol! A signed form is only good for one day. If a child needs medication for multiple days, a form must be filled out each day. Please be careful to only leave medication in the designated area for that classroom and out of the reach of children. Any medication MUST be in its original bottle - no unmarked medicine will be given to a child.

If a child develops a fever (over 100 degrees), the parents will be contacted. If a child vomits or has diarrhea, parents will be contacted for pick-up.

If a child has been ill for more than three days, or has contracted a serious communicable disease, a written doctor's note is requires for re-admittance to the center.

Each child enrolled must have a current and age appropriate physical on record at all times.

A current emergency contact form must also be on file at all times. Parents will be asked to update this form.

In the event that a child needs to be transported by emergency care, the parents will be contacted immediately. A staff member will stay with the child until the parents arrive at the hospital.

If a child is hurt while at the center, parents will receive an incident report describing the injury and treatment. Parents are asked to sign this document for our records. Parents will also be provided with a copy.

Safety Policy:
If the parents want their child to be picked up by ANYONE other than themselves, a child release form must be filled out. Although such permission may be given over the phone if an unexpected circumstance occurs, the written form is preferable. All persons other than the parents will be asked to show a photo I.D. at the time of pick-up.

AGNA assumes responsibility for all children until picked up by a parent or approved contact person. Once this person has made contact with the child's teacher, the center's responsibility ceases.

AGNA requires that parents make contact with staff before leaving.

Unsupervised cars should never be left running in the parking lot. This is a serious safety violation.

For your privacy, children's personal health information will be kept confidential. Contact information will be available only to classroom teachers and office personnel. Staff will never give out contact information to another parent without permission. Parents should not ask for addresses, etc. of other students at the center for any reason.

Fire Drills will be conducted every 60 days at the center.

Payment Policy:
The Avon Grove Nazarene Academy is a non-profit, non-discriminatory service organization. Therefore, your commitment to your financial agreement is vital to our daily operations.

There are two options for payment of tuition:
1. Pay in full at the beginning of the year.
2. Enroll in Blackbaud Tuition Management Plan. This requires a fee of $50 per family. Tuition is payable in 10 equal payments over a 10-month period from August through May.

The center closes at 6:00 p.m. each day. A late fee will be charged if your child is not picked up by 6:00 p.m. The charge per child is as follows: $20 for the first 10 minutes, and $10 for every 5 minutes thereafter.
A $20.00 service charge will be billed to your account for ISF.

If you need to withdraw your child from the center, you must submit the date of withdrawal for your child in writing to the Academy Office. Tuition charges will cease 30 days after receipt of written notice of withdrawal.  We reserve the right to terminate care by giving five days notice to the parent/guardian and refunding any unused tuition paid in advance.

Center Routine & Classroom Procedures:
The center opens at 7:00 a.m. each morning and closes at 6:00 p.m.
The center is open Monday through Friday, except for scheduled closings and holidays.

Weather permitting; children will be taken outside daily. During the winter months, please send your children with attire for outdoor play, as we will take the children outside in the snow whenever possible

Everything belonging to a child should be labeled with his/her name.

Parents are expected to provide a nutritious snack each day.

We strongly encourage communication between parents and teachers. Our teachers are happy to answer any questions about your child's behavior, daily routine, etc. Questions regarding policy and procedures, as well as financial concerns, are to be directed to the Academy office.
